MANGALORE BUNS

Here is step by step instructions with pictures to "How to make Banana Buns / Mangalore Buns Recipe "

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 ripe Bananas
  • around 3.5 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup yogurt/curd
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • pinch of baking Soda
  • oil for deep frying

iNSTRUCTIONS

  1. Keep 2 Bananas ready.
  2. Peel the Bananas and mash it thoroughly, (by hand or use a blender)
  3. Add sugar, baking soda and yogurt and mix it thoroughly.
  4. Mix it until the sugar melts and it becomes paste
  5. Now slowly add all purpose flour/maida to the banana paste and mix it. Continue adding the flour until you get the medium hard dough(like chapathi dough) consistency.(It may take 3 to 3.5 cups)
  6. Once you get the consistency, cover it and keep it for 6 to 8 hours or overnight.
  7. After keeping the dough for 6 to 8 hours, knead it again and take a small lemon size dough and make a ball
  8. Keep enough oil in a pan on medium heat to deep fry the buns
  9. Dip the dough ball in the flour and roll it using a rolling pin like this.
  10. Don't roll it to thin circle, it has be thick
  11. Once the oil is hot enough, add the prepared poori/bun, press it gently.
  12. Once it puffs up, flip it and let it fry on the other side
  13. Fry it until both sides turns golden brown. 
  14. Remove the buns using the perforated ladle on to the colander. Follow the above procedure to make more Buns.
  15. Fluffy, soft and sweet Banana Puris/Mangalore buns are ready , you can just eat as enjoy
